How to store your Vanilla Beans?

Vanilla Beans can be kept for ages if stored correctly.

I've heard stories of beans stored for more than 10 years and they are still good to cook with! Vanilla is like wine, the older it gets the more flavour it has.

When you receive your beans they will come in vacuum packed plastic sachets, after you open them we would recommend you store them in an air tight container.

As not everyone has vacuum seal machines at home we would recommend storing them in ziplock bags, an airtight jar/ container not too big that it just fits the beans.

The idea is not having the beans in contact with too much air as we want them to avoid getting dried out!

In the container you store your beans don’t put any other ingredients/food to avoid cross contamination and alter the flavour of your vanilla beans.

What if I didn’t store my pods properly and they dried out?

it happened to all of us where we take out our beans and find out they are all dried out and hard as a stick!

Rest assured that you can still use them for making vanilla extract, just cut them in pieces and put them in a jar with alcohol as you would do to make your extracts.
